On our visit to Areco, in the centennial year of Don Segundo Sombra, we honor people, places, and projects with soul that help sustain the culture, the trades, the art, the traditions, and the nobility of human bonds.

In Areco, artists' homes are often also their workshops and galleries.

Catalina Guerrico opened the doors of her beautiful house-studio to us, where she paints a vibrant, dreamlike nature populated with mushrooms, horses, birds, and native wildlife.

Along with her partner, Matías Méndez Morgan, they welcomed us with enormous warmth at the truly genuine Estancia La Margarita, a place with real charm, which opens its doors on Saturdays as a country restaurant and where they host art, music, and nature gatherings that reflect the creativity, sensitivity, and spirit of their hosts.

We also visited the house-museum of Marina Massone, contemporary and full of visual charm, where every decorative object nods to her work. Her artistic jewelry, inspired by organic forms, is an extension of her natural universe.

We honor the universe of Joe Pereyra Lucena and his nighttime photographs, images where landscapes seem suspended outside of time.

We also honor the work of Josefina Stagnaro, a talented paper artist who transforms pages from antique books into extraordinary animal sculptures.

Betina Kühlcke and Cristian Schaefer opened the gate to Bellatrix for us, an open-air art gallery and sculpture walk that unfolds along trails and pampas grasslands.

Her daughter Sonia welcomed us and guided us through this natural refuge, where art coexists with native flora and fauna, creating a space where nature, art, and community come together in the heart of the Argentine pampas.

We also visited Laberinto Pampa, where we were welcomed by its creator, May Borovinsky, and museographer Pao Pavanello. Inspired by forms of criollo silverwork, this bamboo labyrinth was designed to promote biodiversity, contemplation, and connection with nature. And we shared a wonderful lunch at La Cinacina's new restaurant.

Areco keeps alive the values that gave it its origin, and generation after generation, finds new ways to express them.

Perhaps that's why Areco preserves something increasingly valuable: a living identity.
